RENÉ AVILÉS FABILA, in his more than forty years of literary work, teaching and journalism, has won numerous awards from public and private institutions, universities, news organizations and cultural associations. His bibliography consists of short stories, novels, memoirs, essays and articles. His novels include Los juegos, Tantadel, La canción de Odette, El gran solitario de palacio, Réquiem por un suicida, El reino vencido and El amor intangible. His short-story collections include Hacia el fin del mundo, La lluvia no mata a las flores, Fantasías en carrusel, Todo el amor, Cuentos de hadas amorosas, El Evangelio según René Avilés Fabila and El bosque de los prodigios. In 1964, he was named a Fellow of the Mexican Center of Writers, where he wrote his first book of short stories titled Hacia el fin del mundo under the direction of Juan Rulfo, Juan José Arreola and Francisco Monterde. He has also been a regular contributor to several newspapers including, El Día, El Universal, and El Nacional. Currently, Fabila continues to write for Excélsior, as well as for the magazine Siempre!
